The Charlatans at Brooklyn Bowl was part of BRITs Week 2015 and my first big gig as a ticketing coordinator for the venue. So I treasure this one. It’s a band I love for a cause I love even more. What cause you ask? The whole of BRITs Week was in aid of War Child UK. There were several gigs taking place around London like Royal Blood at KOKO, George Ezra at Brixton Electric and Take That at O2 Sheperds Bush Empire. The band around lead vocalist Tim Burgess played the Bowl with support from We Are The Ocean and Superfood.
After a bit of effort on my end we got most of the proceeds of the ticket sales to go to War Child UK and I donated the money I would have made working that night (being on hourly pay made that calculation super easy) to the great people at WC as well.
The night was nearly sold out, only a few tickets left on the door. I didn’t get much of a chance to catch the two supports but I did get to see and hear them sound check. I personally really enjoyed We Are The Ocean, who are by the way a lovely bunch of guys.
After eventually being able to close the box office half way through the headliner set I got to enjoy the rest of the concert after a whole day of work. The band was really filling the room and the atmosphere was amazing.
