Green Day set to release best of collection next month

Christmas has come early for Green Day fans!

On 17 November, American punk rockers Green Day are releasing a greatest hits compilation consisting of 20 of their biggest hits, two new songs, a new music video and a Partridge in a Pear tree.

Fittingly titled God’s Favorite Band, the collection will also contain a re-recorded version of Ordinary World which was originally featured in a movie with the same titled that starred Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. The new version will feature none other than country badass Miranda Lambert – and just the idea of that is epic.

The title derives from a recent performance on the Stephen Colbert Show where they were introduced by God before performing Still Breathing from their latest hit album Revolution Radio which was released in late 2016.

And let’s not forget that the band are also working on a movie adaptation of their legendary protest record American Idiot, working with HBO. The album had previously been turned into a successful Broadway and West End musical. “That’s the plan right now, yeah. We’ve got a green light from HBO, and the script is currently going through a couple of rewrites here and there, so I’m not sure when exactly we’re going to start shooting, but it’s definitely all systems go at the moment.” Armstrong recently told NME.
